May 9th, 2015. Ranger Janey and I woke up super early so we could wake up at the crack of dawn to catch the sunrise. See the sunrise? What a wonderful way to start the day! We made it to the beach at a little after 6 a.m. after pulling in the car off of pavement and making sure we didn't run over any other campers in the dark. The beach was empty, and as we walked down the beach and took a breather we could see why. Our beach was quite a bit further from the walk way than the camp sites we'd been at on other weekends. By the time we woke up and packed up camp, and got back to the cars and home there was still enough time for us to drive past the camp sites and see other people walking their dogs and enjoying the beach and sun. After dropping off the kids at the pool we were ready for a nice relaxing drive back to the city. We stopped for breakfast in Watertown, and Ranger Janey mentioned that she'd like to stop in Westport before heading back to town. Isn't this place adorable? It looks like a smaller version of this ice cream parlor. It was just a quick stop and a few pictures, but it was so sweet. I think Ranger Janey actually had a piece of their baked apple pie. I've never had baked apple pie before. We stopped at the free parking lot at the Westport Harbor and we enjoyed a nice evening. We looked at the menu and decided to give someplace a try that we'd never been to before. We chose a menu that looked like it would work with what we'd had on the boat. They had a bunch of good looking items for under $5, and it looked like a fun place to go, so we gave it a try. I ordered the goat cheese and macaroni and cheese slider. This was on the dinner menu, and I can't even believe I tried something I'd never tried before! It was amazing! This is a slider, which is a quarter of a slider. (That's because you can only order these if you are more than two people.) It's a burger with goat cheese on a pretzel bun, and it is so good! It was perfect!
